Library Storytellers

(Photo) Emily previously volunteered with TCPL across many departments and now enjoys the library as a patron.

One of the stories I love sharing with people is when I moved to Ithaca in the summer of 2008, I didn’t want to move here. My dad got a job here, and I had just graduated from college and I wasn’t ready to be on my own. So when I visited here before I moved, I said, “Dad, can you take me to the library? I want to see what the library is like.” And then I walked in here, and I was like, “Wow!” and then I was like, “Okay, I’m home.”

I think if you love reading, and you love libraries, this is just the greatest place to be. When we went Fine Free, I was like, “I love my library!” I remember someone was giving a speech about how much the library meant to them as a family to be able to come and enjoy. I’m just so proud of our library; that I can say that’s my library.
